MELANIE DIR - FOUNDER

GAMINE was founded by Melanie Dir, whose relationship with scent began long before language. Born in Cannes, France - a historic region of perfumery - her earliest exposure to fragrance was rooted in place, practice, and generational transmission. At the age of six, she began formal olfactive training under the mentorship of her father, master perfumer Claude Dir. Immersed in the laboratory from early childhood, she developed an instinctive understanding of raw materials, accords, and olfactive architecture through observation, repetition, and practice. Her work is guided by a clear philosophy: product creation is an act of intent. Emotion, material, and design must align. Systems are built with clarity, discipline, and long-term vision. At GAMINE, this lineage becomes a working method rather than memory - where mastery is inherited, refined, and re-engineered for the present.
